Kind words from families of our residents:

“We chose the home because it was welcoming, warm and friendly on visiting it and Lisa was an experienced hands on manager. Their management of covid not losing any residents was impressive. We liked the rural aspect of the home and the beautiful garden. My family have always been involved in the natural world and natural history and know how important access to green spaces are as my mother was still in recovery. Her view from her room is an integral part of my mothers contented time at Sherwood Grange.

Since moving her there we have not encountered any problems at all. My mother is always well cared for from a hygiene prospective, has access to drinks and her room is always clean and tidy. We attend all times of day and evening.

Considering the absolute shocking state of the care system in this country with barely any training for staff, huge staff issues because of recruitment problems due to the terrible pay offered for the roles this place is a bloody miracle. There are some long standing staff who know my mother well and any new or agency staff seem to be deployed with these staff so routines according to individuality are maintained.

My mother for her own reasons well known to my sister and I as well as the staff does not like to leave her room. Even so they have never stopped encouraging my mother to join in with activities and events. She has been treated with respect and her individual needs are known and attended too. Gentle encouragement is given and not once to our knowledge have the boundaries my mother has set been overstepped. This I am sure you know is a tricky thing to get right especially when the care industry as a whole for older people offers little on no training on such matters.
The manager is approachable, down to earth and responsive to any needs we have for our mother. I would feel happy and comfortable to walk into her office and have a conversation no matter what the subject matter. I would have no hesitation to make a complaint to her, she does not take things personally and I have found her to be professional but friendly and realistic. This is super important to me because it has helped to build a trusting relationship with her and her team. She always has time to explain procedure, issues and the many nuances of care. This has also helped us as we were not only still in shock about putting my mother into care but knew very little about it.”
